Omaha Love

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner I was inspired to share an engagement session & some secret tips.
A few Engagement session tips (these can be applied to all sessions):

  1. Coordinate your outfits…if you are dressy then he should be dressy too.
  2. You don’t have to steer away from color and patterns…again, just make sure you compliment each other
  3. If you do want to wear a color or pattern that stands out then think about what colors you want on the walls of your home or on your save the date/wedding programs (this can be applied to families/couples planning their annual holiday card…
  4. Brainstorm locations and props that are “you.” What do you like to do together, how did you meet? where was your first date? Same principal can be applied to families wanting to capture fun unique photos. HAVE FUN and be yourself!

Here is an engagement session from the Old Market in Omaha, Nebraska
I have always been drawn to graffiti, and using chalk to create personal graffiti for clients is a fun way to incorporate special days, words…into photos

Downtown Omaha is a great backdrop!

Here are some photos to inspire you to get creative with your next session!
I can’t wait to brainstorm with you & see what we come up with to create unique and fun photos for you this year!
Just look at a few of my creative clients from this year:

This picture is from an engagement session for some fun lovin’ chess players

Besides Chess they also love coffee too….they had these mugs custom made for them….I love ideas that you can use for your photos and then still use in your home
To help you brainstorm:
What do you love? Show it in your photos. What do you want to buy for your home & life…can you use it in photos? –a chair, a sign, a prop, a chalkboard …..

Thank you to all military members and their families!
Did you know that Sullivan Photography gives 10% off to all weddings, sessions & products….we are so thankful for your service!
This bride & her brother (in picture) served in Iraq at the same time-we wanted to honor & show that in a wedding day photo.

These words are cute in photos and it would be cute in your home too…bring “I Do” out every Valentines Day for decoration to remind you of the day you said “I do.” This idea can be incorporated into any type of photos….

What season are you getting married? What are your wedding colors? How can you incorporate this into your wedding?
You can apply this idea to your high school senior portraits and family/baby pictures….
Just think about what colors you want on your walls in your home or a fun prop for your child to bring to your next portrait session….

I do-Me too

New Years Eve Weekend Wedding

City girl marries country boy

This is the father of the bride’s Bible. She had the ring bearer use this aged & well worn Bible as their ring pillow. I thought it was a perfect way to have her Dad in her service & a great reminder that he was with her watching down from heaven.

The bride and groom had a saying:
“I Do, Me Too”

After they started dating, their relationship became long distance so they logged many hours on their cell phones talking. I wanted to incorporate their love that was established over many phone conversations into their wedding day images

Above is part of their beautiful wedding cake, below are some very cute forks they served each other cake with….again, with their saying of : “I Do, Me Too”

Here is “LOVE” created out of their personalized reception decorations. I had to flip the Christmas tree centerpieces on their side to make the E. But voila…LOVE from details
cake: Char, dresses: Bridal Gown Outlet, Flowers: Petal Creations, Tuxes: Savvy Formalwear

Beautiful weddings, even on cold days like today!

Katie & Tom’s Winter Wedding
Despite cold weather and snow, the day was nothing short of warm and spectacular

I am always looking for new ways to show off the bride’s dress–
Scoular Ballroom in Omaha, Nebraska had beautiful backdrops for the dress–I am not going to lie, hanging the dress from the chandelier made me a little nervous-I could just picture it all crashing to the floor…
Getting the dress up on all these locations was difficult too….good thing I had a tall basketball player groomsmen to hang the dress everywhere for me….I bet he was wishing he hadn’t shown up early…ha ha!

To show that this was a holiday wedding, I decided to shoot the garter on the Christmas tree, like a wedding ornament.

Cold weather did not keep us from venturing around downtown Omaha and the Old Market

Not the typical bridesmaids’ footwear, but who’s judging…it was COLD!

Old Market Fun….this was lots of fun for me because one of the groomsmen is my twin brother
and more fun…the groom, and 2 other groomsmen went to my high school and the flower girl for the day is my niece-(not in picture)

My twin brother, John Stallings and the Groom, Tom Jeffrey

Gene Leahy Mall, Omaha, NE

Downtown Omaha makes a great backdrop for a wedding day kiss!

We had to show off the holiday lights on Gene Leahy Mall

Stem Gallery in Lincoln, Nebraska provided the flowers and decorations

I really loved the dramatic lighting of snow falling on the walls thru the ceremony and reception….it was absolutely beautfiul

After a day of I Do’s, traveling in a trolly, navigating snow in a wedding dress, mingling with friends and dancing…it’s time to call it a day.

Wedding Album design

We work with a fabulous designer that custom designs EVERY single wedding album to fit our clients design style…from simple & clean lines to flourishes and photos that fade out. Clients get to preview their album and make the changes they desire to get the high end heirloom album of their dreams!  These albums will be past down for generations as artwork that represents their family history.  Here are a few pages from one of our wedding albums- a spread is actually 12×24 inches…so it can’t fit in my blog….so some images are cut off–these are the images that spread across 2 pages in our flush mount album.  The first image is the actual cover of the album!–Wow digital has changed photography and what is available to clients-if you can dream it, we can make it happen!

Joyfulness in all situations-rain, sun and broken down limos!

Something all my clients have in common and one reason I just love my job is that they all have joyful spirits!

Katie & Casey (who I have been blessed to photograph them from engagement pics thru wedding and thru their first year of parents of twins!-so fun)-

they even were jumping for joy in the rain in the Old Market in Omaha, NE!

Joyfulness in the Sun @ Holmes Park in Lincoln, NE

And even joy and humor when Kelly & Nancy’s Harley Limo broke down on their way to the reception and a caravan of wedding guests had to come to the rescue!
